BREAKING: Twitter vs Substack - Cage Fight
Let’s get ready to rUmBLe!! (not RUMBLE ™️, hehe, yet...)
Twitter appears to have gone to war with SubStack.
Twitter is blocking certain features of tweets when used with SubStack.
Seems to have started about 36 hours ago? I noticed it when I tried to embed a tweet in my post early in the morning on the 6th. It never worked.
It seems SubStack writers are not able to embed tweets in their articles anymore.
Also, reportedly, tweets that include SubStack links are dead fish, no interaction allowed on twitter, no likes, retweets etc.
This must be a major bummer for people exposing the twitter files!
How are SubStack writers supposed to amplify the Twitter censorship Elon claims to be excited to expose when the articles they have written discussing that very censorship are themselves censored?
-honk honk
I hardly use twitter, only to read things, so I am taking others words on this.
The launch of the new feature “SubStack NOTES” might be related. Does this behavior hint that Twitter is threatened by SubStacks recent success? What other reasons? Is there a possible upcoming SubStack sale?
Stay tuned….

Substack launches Notes, subscription-based Twitter alternative

The publishing platform announced a new Notes feature today. It closely resembles Twitter in its design, and, much like “tweeting,” allows users to share posts, images, and ideas. It also has a “restack” feature that allows for easily resharing of posts, the same as a retweet. It keeps count of “likes” and comments too.

On Thursday, Twitter made it impossible to embed tweets in Substack posts. Twitter is also not allowing users to take actions on tweets that contain substack.com links — as of Friday morning you can’t like, reply to, or retweet them. (Quote-tweeting still seems to work.) The block on RTs/likes/replies also doesn’t appear to apply to tweets that include Substack sites with custom domains. A current workaround is using a link shortener so “substack.com” doesn’t appear in the link you’re sharing.

Anyone shocked? Not me
Personally, I’m not shocked either. Twitter welcoming back certain conservative influencers smells like a honey trap to me. They don’t need to ban users anymore, they can just restrict their audience to an ideological echo chamber. I’m not ready to believe that Twitter has atoned for it’s evil ways and cast aside it’s authoritarian aspirations. I stand by this meme I made two years ago.
UPDATES - More opinions below
Fc#k Twitter, seriously. Substack is better.
Twitter has done nothing but give me puzzling unpredictable bans and sanctions since I’ve been online, they’ve done nothing but punish me for delivering them my level-best content.
Substack has done the opposite; they’ve always been a friend.
Twitter can literally eat my ar$h0le.
I echo eugyppius for I just got banned too
fc*k TWITTER, that bastion cesspool of crap, as eugyppius said, TWITTER can eat my anus; like I give a crap about TWITTER, yes, substack is way better, so is Gab, GETTR and IMO, anything that is not TWITTER. Fu*k TWITTER. And Facebook.
What are your thoughts?
Feels like we are the played. Why would sub play with twitter and then lose?
Like I said, lets all take a week off next week and see....a week from Monday.
Musk said months ago that no cross posting from other social media sites. This might be your problem.
