In my four day detox I read “The Bodies of Others: The New Authoritarians, COVID-19 and The War Against the Human” by Naomi Wolf.
Highly recommend. I think it will be an important chronicle to refer back upon in future years and generations describing how so many aspects of society failed to be civil and what effect that had.
My favorite line:
It almost seemed as if the permission to abuse and discriminate against the unvaccinated rushed into a vacuum that was already there and waiting, as if it had been so uncomfortable to treat all people equally for so long. Read that again and replace the word unvaccinated, see how it sounds. There was something broken in the people who rushed to abuse the unvaccinated. They lost their humanity and should acknowledge this betrayal of their innate empathy. The mind disease happened internal to them. The unvaccinated didn’t cause them to become monsters. Asking for amnesty is the exact opposite of what they need. It’s like an addict requesting you ignore the damage they do without admitting their problem.
