One comment, just because it brings back (shudder) memories: I’m old enough to remember the spraying of DDT nightly in our neighborhood. I distinctly remember getting upset because my mom always made me come in the house while other kids were allowed to race around chasing the DDT truck and running in the fumes. Thanks, Mom, you instinctively knew it wasn’t a good idea!

I remember the same thing, the "bug spray" truck would come in the summer. Mom would make us come inside and close all the windows. Neighborhood kids used to ride their bikes behind it.
